Spring 2019 Drop-In Recreational Classes

Classes are free for students, faculty, and staff of Claremont McKenna, Harvey Mudd, and Scripps colleges. Classes begin Monday, Jan. 28

  • B-Fit: This class is all about building general strength with our new assistant strength and conditioning coach, Bri DiPhilippo. If you are new to working out, looking for some new exercises and/or enjoy getting your sweat on with a group – JOIN ME! As my mission is to improve your physical and mental capacities while making you functionally fit.
    • Wednesday: 8 p.m.
    • Friday: noon
  • CROSSFIT: A strength and conditioning program focusing on aerobic exercise, calisthenics, and Olympic weightlifting. These classes can be modified to all fitness levels and are enjoyable for beginners and advanced alike.
    • Monday: 6 a.m. &  7 a.m.
    • Wednesday: 6 a.m. & 7 a.m.
  • Handstand: This class will focus on the strength and techniques that are needed to perform handstands. The goal is to be able to master the handstand by the end of the semester.
    • Tuesday: 3 p.m.
    • Thursday: 3 p.m.
    • Sunday: 1 p.m.
  • HIIT (High Intensity Interval Training): High intensity interval training will focus on fast paced fitness to get your workout in. All movements can be modified to any fitness experience and level.
    • Tuesday: 3:30 p.m.
    • Thursday: 3:30 p.m.
    • Sunday: 1:30 p.m.
  • Jungle Gym: A fast paced, circuit based weights and bodyweight training class. We focus on different areas of the body and doing something new and different each week. The class uses a combination of strength and HIIT techniques to keep your heart rate up throughout the workout. This class is enjoyable for beginners, experts, and everyone in-between.
    • Monday: 5:15 p.m.
    • Tuesday: 5:15 p.m.

  • Meditation & Mindfulness: This class is designed to provide foundational exercises and information regarding mindfulness techniques that empower you to feel your best. The class will focus on preparing your mind, body, and spirit for peak performance whether it be on the field, in the classroom, or in your everyday life.
    • Monday: 10 a.m. & 10:30 a.m.
  • Running: Class for beginning, intermediate, or advanced runners. Several suggested routes from campus of varying distances will be provided. Warm-up routines, stretching, and running-specific strength training are available. Advice on biomechanics, training structure, and anything related to running also offered during this time.
    • Tuesday: 10:30 a.m.
    • Thursday: 10:30 a.m.
  • Spin: Indoor cycling for all levels. Class will focus on endurance, strength, intervals, and recovering using a special stationary exercise bike.
    • Monday: 8 a.m.
    • Tuesday: 8 a.m.
    • Wednesday: 8 a.m.
    • Thursday: 8 a.m.
    • Friday: 8:30 a.m.
    • Sunday: 4 p.m.
  • Yoga: Increase your flexibility, muscle tone, and strength with Yoga. Open to all levels and modifications can be made.
    • Monday: 3 p.m.
    • Tuesday: 8 a.m.
    • Wednesday: noon
    • Thursday: 8 a.m.
    • Friday: 5 p.m.
    • Sunday: 3 p.m.
